![]() ![]() Lower elevations can expect a coating to 1-2" through midday Saturday, with 2"+ east of I-77 possible. Areas east of US 19 could see 4-8" of snow with over 8" at the highest peaks. This setup usually favors the higher elevations of West Virginia for the heaviest snow.and that will be the case tonight into Saturday. These are enhanced by an upper level disturbance moving in overnight and a northwest flow behind the main system that is drawing moisture off of Lakes Michigan, Huron and Erie. In addition, those snow showers are still around and will likely increase a bit in coverage toward dawn. The sun has now set and temperatures are heading into the teens.with wind chills dropping toward 0 and below overnight. ![]() With temperatures in the upper 20s to near 30 this was a wetter snow than what we saw on MLK DAY, making it more ideal for snowmen and snowballs. Overall, however, main roads improved during the second half of the day. From there we saw a transition to scattered snow showers, some of which lowered visibility and produced a quick coating. Steady, heavy snow Thursday night into Friday morning left a general 4-8" on the ground by Friday afternoon across the area before tailing off. Sunday remains very cold and we may still start Monday near zero before temperatures start warming quickly next week. More snow showers tonight will provide another dusting to 1" for the valleys (more in the mountains). Snow shower will become more disorganized and won't add much later today.and some sun should even poke through the clouds at times.so main roads should improve again. With arctic air settling into the region today temperatures won't recover much.likely holding below 20 in most locations this afternoon with wind chills in the single digits. It's very easy to clear off your car but it's also recoated many main roads that were in pretty good shape Friday afternoon so be very careful if you head out. With temperatures near 10 this snow is a much fluffier, lighter snow than what we had Friday morning. Many of us have woken up to a fresh coating of snow.
